Social Worker Joins Nambikkai Illam

Social Worker Joins Nambikkai Illam

Asha – Our new social worker at Nambikkai Illam

We’re delighted to report the appointment of a social worker at Nambikkai Illam. Asha commenced employment in July. She will work 5 days a week.

Her role will involve interacting with the children, being there to listen to any worries or problems they may have and to counsel them as necessary.

Another aspect of Asha’s role will be to assess the home environment which the children will return to when they leave Nambikkai Illam to try and spot any potential problems.

She will also carry out some research in the nearby villages to determine the best ways of using the resource of the church hall at Navalur to benefit the local community.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for many years for the appointment of a social worker. Please continue to pray Asha will settle into the role and that this will be a real benefit to the children of Nambikkai Illam.

About Faith Welfare Trust

FWT works with young people in India: to provide a safe home and loving Christian environment for deprived children; and to provide access to education and suitable further training to maximise their opportunity to earn a living wage and escape the poverty trap. FWT is managed in the UK by a board of trustees comprising Alistair Coomer, Joy Rafferty-Smith, Tessa and Chris Sayers, Elsie and Brian Tugwell, Rachel and John Fisher and Helen Webster. They are assisted in India by the Nambikkai Illam Trust, based in Chennai, which manages the two childrenʼs homes at nearby Vengadu and Navalur villages and provides support to Faith Public School at Rajahmundry, about 350 miles further North.
